Lenovo historically has had a somewhat traditional hybrid manufacturing supply chain with a combination of inhouse plants and ODMs. Although demand planning has been done largely centrally, the scheduling and execution of customer orders was managed primarily by the distributed manufacturing locations. Using Blue Yonder solutions, we built a digital twin E2E supply chain simulation capability that allows us to optimize which orders are built at which plants, and we quickly orchestrate the existing and incoming parts supply in the entire supply chain network to match the simulated optimization. Even though this is a digital twin type of capability, we refer to this internally within Lenovo as Connected Planning.
