InterChange Group unifies warehouse operations with Blue Yonder

The company

InterChange Group is a U.S.-based logistics and industrial real estate company serving the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors. With nearly 2 million square feet of warehouse space, including a 600,000-square-foot cold storage facility, the company provides customized warehousing, transportation, land development, and logistics services.

The business challenge

As InterChange Group expanded its warehouse network and customer portfolio, its existing technology no longer aligned with the company’s long-term business objectives for growth. At the same time, increasing customer expectations placed greater emphasis on data governance, security, and visibility.
Additionally, disconnected warehouse operations and billing processes created high administrative overhead and limited billing efficiency. InterChange Group needed stronger governance over operational data and a platform flexible enough to support future expansion while delivering accurate, timely customer information across multiple facilities.

The solution

InterChange Group selected Blue Yonder for its superior configurability and scalability. Blue Yonder Warehouse Management (WMS), Billing Management, and Warehouse Labor Management (WLM) provide a cloud-first operational foundation across the company’s warehouse network.
Blue Yonder WMS and Billing Management have been deployed across 11 of the company's warehouses, while WLM supports two facilities with further expansion planned. The integrated environment connects warehouse execution with billing processes, giving teams a unified view of discrete warehouse activities and associated charges.

“Blue Yonder really helps us manage our operations and allows us to take our WMS data straight into Billing Management and have a unified view of our processes and changes. We're looking at what other areas of the business we can expand to in the future."

–Daniel Rittenhouse, Director of IT, InterChange Group

Building a technology foundation for growth

InterChange Group’s leadership identified scalability as one of its most significant business priorities. Rather than implementing technology that would require extensive customization with every operational change, the company sought a configurable solution that could evolve alongside warehouse operations. Supporting customer-specific workflows while maintaining consistency became a key requirement during the software selection process.

“We needed to have a solution that would scale with us and meet the needs of the business as they changed, and be configured in a way that allowed us to drive trust with our customers,” said Rittenhouse.

Blue Yonder WMS’ flexibility has enabled InterChange Group to align its warehouse processes with customer-specific requirements, while maintaining a common technology framework across its facilities.

Centralized data across operations

InterChange Group needed to gain a birds-eye-view of to its data and ensure its insights remained accurate, accessible, and protected. Blue Yonder supports these objectives by centralizing information within a unified solution. By connecting warehouse activity, inventory movement, and billing information, leaders can work from one consistent set of data rather than piecing together information from disconnected systems. This centralized approach gives InterChange Group a stronger foundation for informed decision-making.

Connecting warehouse execution with billing

InterChange Group’s previous billing system frequently required additional administrative coordination. By connecting Blue Yonder WMS with Billing Management, warehouse activity now flows directly into billing, creating a unified operational environment that reduces manual effort and improves consistency. Transactions recorded within WMS become available inside Billing Management, allowing warehouse activity and customer charges to remain synchronized. This integration also improves customer transparency. Access to consistent billing information supports stronger customer relationships, simplified invoice generation, and greater precision within the billing process.

Creating visibility into workforce performance

With Blue Yonder WLM, InterChange Group has gained clear insights into labor performance across shifts and its facilities. Managers have gained visibility into workforce productivity while identifying operational trends that support continuous improvement. Instead of relying upon limited observations or manual reporting, warehouse leadership can evaluate performance using structured labor information generated directly from warehouse activity.

“What excites me the most about Blue Yonder is that there are endless opportunities to increase our efficiency in other areas of the business and we can unlock new ways of getting work done for our teams,” said Rittenhouse.

With its Blue Yonder solutions continuing to show value, InterChange Group is building upon a scalable digital foundation designed to support operational excellence, customer service, and long-term business growth.
