Blue Yonder celebrated its annual Global Week of Giving in October, bringing associates together for more than 20 company-organized volunteer events, all aimed at supporting local communities. With World Food Day on October 16, many activities focused on food insecurity, though associates also devoted their time to other causes that are meaningful to them. Below are some of the volunteering highlights shared by our associates:
Amanda Goff, Product Development, United States: Volunteering in our communities is a core part of our culture at Blue Yonder, and everyone who participated at our event here in Wisconsin found it personally satisfying to give back (and had fun!). Thank you to all the volunteers for their commitment to making a positive change during Global Week of Giving. Together, we are nourishing communities and making a lasting impact.
Ellie Hislop, Product Marketing, United States: As part of Blue Yonder’s Global Week of Giving, our NYC team rolled up our sleeves once again to volunteer with Rethink Food, an organization that turns excess food into chef-prepared meals for communities in need. Together, we chopped hundreds of carrots and tomatoes to be mixed into a flavorful rice dish that would later be distributed across the city. What makes Rethink’s model so special is its commitment to culturally inspired, great-tasting meals. Every meal they prepare honors the people and cultures it serves, reminding us that dignity and nourishment go hand in hand.
Wendy Wang, Associate Success, China: The team spent a meaningful morning volunteering at Foodbank’s warehouse in Shanghai. We learned that the food we packed came from supermarkets—products with slightly damaged packaging that are still perfectly good to eat. Thanks to efforts like this, food that might otherwise be thrown away can instead reach people who truly need it. It’s incredible to see how something so small—a dented box or a torn label—can be turned into a meal, a smile, and even a bit of hope.
Heather Wildman, Operate WMS, U.K.: The EMEA WMS SCO Team met up to take part in the Global Week of Giving. In two separate walks at Regent’s Park in London and Derwent Reservoir in Derbyshire, the team together completed over 13km (almost 20,000 steps) and raised donations for the Global Foodbanking Network!
Ravi Sajja, Product Development, United States: The Dallas Blue Yonder team volunteered at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing children in both body and spirit. FMSC’s meals are developed by food scientists and nutrition experts to meet essential nutritional needs and fight malnutrition, helping children grow, thrive and reach their full potential. That afternoon, we spent a few hours packing more than 12,000 meals that will be sent to underprivileged children in Colombia. It was a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Priyam Agarwalla, Corporate Social Responsibility, India: We had an inspiring and impactful Global Week of Giving in India, with eight organized volunteer events across four locations. Activities included meal packing, organic farming, blood donation, a clean-up drive, and time spent with underprivileged children. It was a wonderful experience for all of us, filled with learning, joy and the satisfaction of making a difference together. A big thank you to all our volunteers for their incredible energy and compassion.
Jacqueline Shen, Marketing, Australia: The Sydney team volunteered with Foodbank Australia, helping to pack Christmas hampers for families who need a little extra support this festive season. Every year, Foodbank curates these hampers filled with pantry staples and festive treats, providing comfort, dignity and hope to families who might otherwise go without. It was an incredibly humbling and heartwarming experience to see what can be achieved when we come together for a cause that truly matters (and also marked my first time seeing a warehouse and “human” supply chain!).
